Current Projects

Grace is currently working towards multiple publication projects which capture a wide range of her interests.

She has a forthcoming chapter in an edited volume, Classical Reception in Cosmetics Advertising, for Bloomsbury entitled “Black, Bronze, and Copper Venus: The Racial Implications of Classicizing Cosmetics.” This grew out of the work from the “I’m Your Venus” scholarly conference in 2022.

Grace is also contributing an entry to the Oxford Encyclopedia of Women and Gender History on “Black Women in the North American Literary Tradition.”

She has also worked on providing a commentary piece for the fabulous Digital Humanities project “The Digital Colored American Magazine.” This commentary seeks to provide a scholarly entry point for a particular issue of the magazine.

Finally, in her spare time, she is pursuing research for a piece called “Afrodisiacs” which focuses on the relationship between sugar, beauty, and race in the novels of Toni Morrison.
